Oil on canvas painting by Ramdas Shankar Lobhi, with a beautiful depiction of a girl absorbed by love and gratitude.
Painting titled “In Gratitude” by Ramdas Shankar Lobhi. Oil on canvas, 42 x 32 inches. Signed at the front and back of the canvas. The painting will be delivered framed, along with an authenticity certificate from the artist.
The painting is inspired by the lovely people and architecture of Bali, Indonesia. In this painting, a girl is walking in the courtyard of a temple in Bali carrying tender beautiful flowers to express her gratitude to God. Perfection in anything comes only when it is done with a fully absorbed mind - in this scene, the girl is fully absorbed in her love for God such that she herself seems like a reflection of the lord.
Ramdas Shankar Lobhi hails from a humble background from the village of Beed in Karjat district. Heartbroken by the loss of life and hardships faced by millions due to the Covid19 breakout, including the plight of thousands of daily wage workers, he resolved to contribute one of his best and most apt works for a charity auction to raise funds for Covid19 relief efforts.
Lobhi holds a Diploma in Fine Art from Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune. His paintings have been bought and collected by esteemed collectors ranging from India and Singapore to Australia and the UK.
Lobhi has a deep affinity for capturing rural landscapes and its people in their stark reality. He laments that the simple but real beauty of the villages will not be here forever, as modernisation takes over our landscapes and native birds disappear, as has happened before his very eyes. His art is his way of holding on to what he knows may not be here too long, and that which he knows he will miss and yearn for always. To Lobhi, this ability to hold on to these memories is the greatest gift Art has given him.
